Our Arrowheads

Soapstone Carving

What a day!  We were so lucky to spend a block with Mr. ManyEagles.  He is an amazing soapstone carver and teacher!  The time just flew by!
We were able to bring home 2 extra pieces of stone to carve.  Mr. ManyEagles told us that we could use a nail file or even the sidewalk to shape the stone.  He said that if we wanted a hole, the best way was to spin a drill bit between our fingers.  DO NOT use a drill!!  The stone is easily broken.  After shaping the stone, you can use a kitchen scrubber pad to clean and polish your carving.  A final step might be to rub a small amount of cooking oil onto your carving to make it shine or glow.

Painting Poppies

The Our paintings are lovely!  Notice that we tried to focus on objects in the foreground, mid ground and background.   We added the centres and grass detail with pastels.
