Cupcake Decorating

What a sweet treat!  Thank you very much to Mrs. Immerkar for coming in to our class and sharing your passion and talent for cake decorating!  First she taught us how to do a "candycane" swirl frosting on one cupcake.  On the other cupcake, we got to try decorating with fondant icing.  As you can see, we had a blast....and the best part, was getting to taste test at snack time!

We love Go Noodle!

We've been having a blast with Go Noodle brain breaks!  We were pretty excited to graduate Bart Reynolds this afternoon!

Our first Skype call

This is our first time talking to our friends in Dresden, Ontario.  We are partnered up to talk about the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane for the 2014 Global Read Aloud.  Today we asked questions about what stores they have in their town, what their playground is like, and  what they are learning in Math.  We learned that they have Tim Hortons, a Walmart about 20 min away, banks and drug stores too.  They are learning Place Value in math, just like us.  Their playground has 3 slides and not a lot of grass.  They were really surprised to hear that our school yard is on top of a hill and we get to slide at recess in the winter.  They also were amazed to hear that we have 3 soccer fields.   Their school is from JK to Grade 8 and they have about 400 students.

Loren says it was pretty awesome to talk to them because we could see their faces instead of just chatting in our Edmodo group.

Katie thinks it's a neat way to make some new friends.

Janica thought they asked us some pretty good questions about what was going to happen to Edward.
We also talked about the weather.  We hope we can talk again soon.

Bus Safety

We went over our bus safety procedures with 2 of our SVSD drivers this am.  We went over some very good reminders of how we need to behave when we are on the bus.  This afternoon we watched this video...

We thought that it was really neat that it was created in Manitoba.  We loved singing along!

We also watched this video which does a great job of showing us how NOT to behave on the bus!

Harvest Lunch

We thoroughly enjoyed our turkey lunch all together in our gym. We are very thankful for our families, friends, and school community.
