Our Very Own Blogs

We're in the process of getting our individual blogs going.  Click on the link on the right to go to our individual blogs.  I think this is going to be a neat place to share our writing and our ideas with a wider audience.
As always, we are discussing what's appropriate for posting (and commenting) on each others' blogs.  Here's the guidelines that we've discussed.
  • Student work will only be identified by first names. All comments should have first names only.
  • Parents who leave comments are asked not to use last names either. (Please post comments as “Jimmy’s mom” or “Megan’s grandfather”, etc.)
  • All comments submitted have to be approved by Mrs. Maksymchuk before they are included on the blog. Inappropriate or sloppy writing will not be approved.
  • Proof-read your comments carefully. Students should have a family member check for spelling mistakes before submitting a comment.
  • Always write in full sentences and words – no “text talk” please!

Making Butter

Our current Nelson literacy theme is Early Settlers.  The selection we read Thursday was "Early Settler Menu".  So to add a little something, we made butter like he pioneers.  We shook cream in a jar like crazy!  After a lot of fun and teamwork, we finally had butter.  Of course, you need something to eat with it, so I made a johnnycake  from a pioneer recipe.  So yummy!!  It all disappeared!

Here's the recipe:

Imagine that a big snowstorm closes school.  Write about how you would spend your day. Email me your thoughts and I will publish them in the comments for this post.
